This simulation demonstrates a ring oscillator, a classic example of how oscillation can be created using only inverting stages and feedback. At the bottom, you can see an odd number of inverter blocks connected in a closed loop. Because the total loop inversion is odd, the circuit can never settle into a stable logic state.
